Terms of Service

Welcome to ChorePact. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the ChorePact website, web application, and mobile application (collectively, the "Service"), operated by ChorePact ("we," "our," or "us").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

ChorePact is a household chore management and fairness application designed for couples. The Service allows users to create shared households, assign and track household tasks, set schedules, earn rewards, and communicate appreciation between partners.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use ChorePact. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age.

3. Account Registration

To use ChorePact, you must create an account using a valid email address and password, or by signing in with Google. You are responsible for:

• Providing accurate and current information
• Keeping your login credentials secure
• All activity that occurs under your account

4. Household Sharing

ChorePact is designed for shared use between household partners. When you create or join a household:

• Both members can view and modify shared household data, including chore assignments, completion history, schedules, and rewards
• You are responsible for inviting only people you trust to your household
• We are not responsible for disputes between household members

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
• Use automated scripts, bots, or tools to access the Service
• Send spam, unsolicited messages, or abuse the invite system
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
• Impersonate another person or entity
• Use the Service to harass, threaten, or harm another person

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice.

6. User Content

You retain ownership of any content you create within ChorePact (such as custom chore names, notes, and grocery list items). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, display, and process that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you and your household partner.

We do not claim ownership of your content. We will not use your content for advertising, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to providing the Service.

7. Pricing and Payments

ChorePact is currently offered free of charge. If we introduce paid features in the future, we will notify you in advance. Core features, including household sharing between partners, will remain free.

We will never retroactively charge for features that were free when you started using them.

8. Availability and Changes

We strive to keep ChorePact available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will provide reasonable notice and an option to export your data.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• ChorePact is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied
• We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or uninterrupted
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service
• Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which, during the free period, is $0)

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ChorePact, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another person.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the app or by emailing [email protected]. Upon deletion:

• Your personal data will be deleted within 30 days
• Shared household data may persist if your partner still has an active account
• We may retain anonymized data for analytics purposes

We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms or engage in activity that is harmful to other users or the Service.

12. Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved through binding arbitration in Florida, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.

You agree to resolve disputes with us on an individual basis and waive any right to participate in a class action or class-wide arbitration.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the date at the top of this page and, where possible, by sending a notification through the app. Your continued use of ChorePact after cha
